Finally, Fairies! was a dance piece choreographed by MFA Candidate Tristan Koepke as a part of the 2022 Spring MFA Dance Concert at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Finally, Fairies! was an exploration by choreographer Tristan Koepke of the ways the artifacts of old creative processes, creations, memory, and more impact the current expression of creation. The concept of hauntology was used as a framework on which to explore these ideas, and the aesthetic of vaporwave, which takes its inspiration from the 1980s and 1990s imagining of the future, were language on which we based our collaboration on this piece. We wanted to use the vaporwave visual language of color, light, and saturation, in order to transform the space around the dancers.
